There plenty of products out there that promise simple weight loss. If a diet seems unhealthy, it probably is. The ads are designed to bring in quick dollars, but a physician can ensure sustained health while you diet.
It is inevitable that you will eat out on occasion when you are trying to lose weight. Therefore, it is important that you consider the people you will be eating out with. Recent research shows that both men and women eat more when in the presence of a woman, and less when in the presence of a man. The reasons for this are still a mystery; however, it’s something to keep in mind when contemplating a night out with your girlfriends.
Track your calories. It’s as simple as buying a spiral notebook. A food diary is what this notebook will be. Write down what you eat, the number of servings, and calorie content of each food item you keep track of. This is a highly effective method of monitoring your progress and zeroing in on slip-ups and cheating.
Eat at home to lose weight quickly. The portions you get in restaurants are far too large. Also, it’s not as easy to make a healthy choice when you’re in a restaurant because a lot of the food has quite a bit of fat, sugar and salt.
Treat yourself. If you are sticking to your diet, it’s ok to reward yourself once in a while with a small piece of cake or a glass of wine. Don’t think that doing this means you’ve failed to follow your diet. This means that you’re doing an adequate job with your own weight loss routine. However, rewards should be occasional, not frequent occurrences. Your diet should be a healthy new way of living, not a form of punishment.
Do not consume liquor with eating while dieting. Liquor has lots of calories and it can lower inhibitions to the point that you overeat instead of resisting temptation. You will be filled up with bad, empty calories by drinking alcohol.
An easy way to help lose weight is to reduce the size of the plate you use. You’re more likely to accidentally overeat if you use large dishes. Your meal should fit easily on a standard plate. Larger plates are simply too large for successful weight loss.
Portion out your food when you get home from the grocery store. By dividing fruits and other foods up into smaller, ready to grab and eat portions, you’ll be less likely to eat something unhealthy. Being able to grab a portion-sized container of food makes it harder to accidentally eat too much.
See a physician to increase your effectiveness at losing weight. Visiting a doctor allows your weight loss plan to be more customized to fit you specifically. Your doctor takes your health into consideration, helps you create more obtainable goals and gives you more information. Counter-intuitively, going to the doctor may actually save you money in the long run, since your physician might save you from choosing an ineffective program.
